Outdoor cushions die two ways: soaked foam that never dries, and fabric faded by the sun. Our outdoor builds attack both — Dryfast open-cell foam that drains and dries fast, and 360° waterproof outdoor fabric (or your own premium outdoor fabric) for the cover.
Why Dryfast foam for anything exposed
Regular upholstery foam holds water like a sponge — once rain gets in, it stays in, and mildew follows. Dryfast is a reticulated (open-cell) foam: water passes straight through, air dries it in hours. It's the standard for patio chairs, porch swings, boat cockpits and poolside benches. It's also naturally firm, so pair it with a slightly thicker cut (3–4″) for lounge comfort.

Indoor-outdoor covered spaces (a roofed porch, a screened sunroom) can also use our indoor linen blend — choose by how much weather actually reaches the cushion.
Measuring outdoor furniture
Same rules as indoor: measure the seat frame, not the tired old pad, widest points, ±¼″. Slatted chairs often look wider than they seat — measure between the slat frames where the cushion actually rests. The measuring guide applies as-is.
Care between seasons
Our 360° waterproof fabric sheds rain off the cushion face; seams and zippers remain the weak spots, so in sustained rain still tilt cushions on edge or store them in a deck box. Dryfast foam forgives a soaked afternoon; the fabric's color life is what you protect by keeping cushions dry and shaded when not in use.
